Head of Digital Architecture- Tāmaki

Ready to Lead the Digital Future of Learning?

We're looking for a visionary Head of Digital Architecture to lead our enterprise and solutions architecture capability, helping drive digital transformation at scale across Aotearoa's largest tertiary education provider.

In this strategic leadership role, you'll define and own the architectural vision and roadmap that underpins our digital evolution - connecting our bold technology strategy to real-world outcomes for learners, staff, and partners. You'll work across the organisation to ensure our technology stack enables innovation, simplicity, security, and value for money.

You'll play a pivotal role in lifting architectural maturity, enabling smarter, faster decisions through well-governed, fit-for-purpose digital platforms and systems - all while leading a talented team and collaborating with key stakeholders across our academic and corporate functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set and maintain enterprise and solutions architecture models aligned to our strategic goals.
• Lead technology design and governance to reduce risk, cost and complexity.
• Provide expert consultancy to senior leaders and programmes on digital capability uplift.
• Translate strategic intent into actionable architectural roadmaps and capability transitions.
• Guide the creation of consistent standards and patterns across data, infrastructure, application, and integration domains.
• Build a strong architectural practice, uplift capability, and embed future-focused ways of working.
• Collaborate closely with the wider Digital Services and Data teams to deliver meaningful, customer-centric outcomes.

Mōu te take - E uiga ia te oe - About you:

• 10+ years in senior architecture leadership roles in complex environments.
• Deep knowledge across enterprise architecture domains and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, BCS).
• Proven ability to lead digital transformation initiatives aligned to organisational strategy.
• Strong experience with cloud architecture (Azure or AWS) and EA tooling.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science (or equivalent experience).
