About the role

As the Social Services Manager at Manchester House Social Services Society Incorporated, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing the organisation's social services programs. This full-time position is based in Feilding Manawatu.

You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support and assistance to the local community. Leading, supporting and developing our team of exceptional professionals will be a paramount part of the job.

What you'll be doing

  1. Manage and oversee the social services programs, ensuring they are aligned with Manchester House's mission and vision.
  2. Provide strategic direction and leadership to the social services team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  3. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational plans to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the social services.
  4. Signify and recognise the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the workplace.
  5. Demonstrate an appreciation of kāwanatanga, rangatiratanga, and other key Te Tiriti concepts and how they apply to social services.
  6. Liaise with key stakeholders, including community members, funding bodies, and other social service providers, to build partnerships and secure resources.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the social services performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions.
  8. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
  9. Oversee the management of the social service's financial resources, including budgeting and reporting.
  10. Represent Manchester House in the community and advocate for the needs of the individuals and families served.

What we're looking for

  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a management role within the community services or social services sector.
  2. Tertiary qualification in social work, community development, or a related field.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in leading and managing a diverse team of social service professionals.
  4. Experience fostering a positive and empathic work culture.
  5. Strong understanding of the social, economic, and political issues impacting the local community.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders.
  7. Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
  8. Proven track record in financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation.
