Field Service Technician – High Voltage

Sydney-based, nationwide travel

We are seeking two Field Service Technicians to join our expert high-voltage service team. This hands-on role is ideal for a qualified electrical fitter/mechanic or licensed electrician who enjoys practical field work, problem-solving, and working on critical power infrastructure.

You'll work both independently and within a highly skilled team, carrying out installation, commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance of high-voltage transformer equipment. Experience with on-load tap changers (OLTCs) is an advantage, not a requirement, full support and training will be provided.

What You'll Do

  • Service, repair, and maintain high-voltage transformer equipment and associated components
  • Perform transformer diagnostics, including resistance testing and dynamic measurements
  • Install and commission transformer accessories, monitoring systems, and control panels
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults across LV motor drives, relays, sensors, and wiring
  • Modify, assemble, and wire electrical components and secondary systems
  • Interpret and apply technical drawings, manuals, schematics, and procedures
  • Complete accurate WHS documentation, service reports, and job records
  • Mentor junior technicians and support workshop/training activities

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • You're a Qualified Electrical Fitter or Licensed Electrician (or equivalent mechanical/electrical trade qualification)
  • A full EWRB Practising Licence in NZ, ready to get your Australian Licenses
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in transformer servicing or high-voltage field work
  • Strong understanding of transformer design, operation, and components
  • Excellent problem-solving ability in dynamic field environments
  • Strong communication skills—written and verbal
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Safety-first mindset and collaborative working style
