Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand ProCare Full time NZ$60,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

About the Initiative

ProCare's Comprehensive Primary and Community care Teams (CPCT) model has been successfully operating for 20 months. This initiative integrates allied health professionals into general practice teams to improve equity, reduce barriers to care, and support our most at-risk communities. The programme provides free access for patients to a range of services, easing pressure on GPs and enabling holistic, whānau-focused care.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to deliver front-line assessment and care as an integral member of the general practice interdisciplinary team. You'll work closely with GPs, nurses, and the wider team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that supports hospital avoidance and improves community health outcomes.

We're seeking an Extended Care Paramedic to join our team at Tuakau Health Centre. This is a 0.9 FTE role, negotiable for the right candidate, offering the opportunity to make a real impact in an innovative model of care.

The CPCT Extended Care Paramedic duties will include:

  • Telephone triage and telehealth consultations
  • Face-to-face clinical assessments
  • Issuing medications under standing orders
  • Ordering lab tests and x-rays (under GP name)
  • Suturing and wound management
  • Support access across Urgent Care and booked appointments

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Health Science in Paramedicine
  • Current registration and APC with Te Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council
  • Postgraduate study in paramedicine (or working towards it)
  • Strong cultural competency and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Excellent clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice skills
