Physiotherapist Community Child Health

Full and part time

1.9 FTE

We are seeking Physiotherapists who are looking to extend their professional practice in respiratory and/or disability care to join our Community Child Health Team based at Waitakere Hospital.

You will be joining an experienced and highly skilled multi-disciplinary paediatric community team who are committed to innovative best practice in the context of child-focussed/family centred care, that is based on the family and childs strengths and goals. About the Role

As a Physiotherapist in the Community Child Health Team, you will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment, providing community based care for children requiring physiotherapy for disability related health needs as well as in-reach acute respiratory physiotherapy to children admitted to the Rangatira Paediatric Ward. It is expected that following an orientation and settling in period, you will be supported to credential and join our wider Child Health physio team to participate in the on-call acute roster for the Rangatira Ward on weekends and public holidays from 8am-4.30pm.

You will be supported by our physiotherapy clinical leaders to have supervised training and ongoing professional development across the paediatric disability and respiratory models of care to ensure you are supported to be the best clinician you can be.

The role is based primarily at Waitakere Hospital, but travel to other Waitematā child health sites (North Shore) may be required in this clinical role.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Community Child Health Team is made up of dedicated allied health and nursing clinicians who share a passion for supporting children and their whanau who are faced with various health and disability challenges to live their best lives at home. Working in collaboration and in partnership with our whanau is central to our work, as is the drive to be strengths based. We have a hard-working team, that are closely connected - supporting each other on a daily basis, but who also enjoy bringing a sense of fun to their work environment. We maintain close working relationships across our inpatient paediatric areas and our community based Child Health services.

About you

Our ideal person will be passionate about providing care and improving health outcomes for children and their whanau, and will have proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a supportive multi-disciplinary team environment.

For this role you will need to have:

  • A current APC registered as a NZ physiotherapist
  • A full NZ drivers licence or a restricted licence working towards a full licence
  • A passion for working with young children and their whanau
