About the role | Kōrero mō te tūranga
As our Complaints Officer you'll play an integral role in supporting our legal leam to deliver Engineering New Zealand's complaints resolution service. You will be the first contact for all complaints, so your calm and collected temperament will be key, along with your ability to quickly connect with people and gain their trust.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Responding in a timely and professional manner to enquiries and requests for information about the complaints and disciplinary process.
- Gathering and collating information for our legal team
- Assisting volunteer decision to draft their decisions on complaints
Desired skills and experience | Ngā tino pūkenga/whēako
To thrive in this role, you will relate well to people from all backgrounds and be able to de-escalate situations with ease. You will be an attentive listener who ensures complainants feel heard and understood. You will enjoy working within clearly defined processes and have strong writing skills.
This role is well-suited to a law student, or someone in a similar field, with an interest in regulation and professional discipline.
Key skills you will bring are:
- Experience in a similar environment, or currently studying in a relevant tertiary field (e.g., LLB)
- A high level of resilience and the ability to maintain perspective in challenging situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise information, clearly identifying and highlighting the key points
- Ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks
- Confidence to make recommendations based on the information provided
- Terrific work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude
- The ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the business
- Great organisational skills with accuracy and an attention to detail
