About the role | Ko te mahi nei

We are seeking to recruit a Finance Systems and Reporting Accountant to assist with the Council's financial planning and reporting requirements to ensure the Council can accurately and efficiently produce financial information at a corporate level. This role offers training opportunities that will allow you to strengthen your knowledge and skills.

Reporting to a Finance Business Partner, you will be working as part of a small team principally involved in the preparation of monthly financial reports, forecasting processes at a corporate level, as well as the Council's annual plan and the long-term-plan processes. A key focus of this role will be undertaking the month end close process and working with finance staff to coordinate accurate data collection for planning in a timely and efficient manner.

Tertiary qualified with a major in Accounting or Finance, you will ideally have experience in the accounting or finance sector, but more importantly a curiosity mind-set and a willingness to learn and absorb. You will take a results focused approach and deliver on objectives. A natural problem solver you will enjoy working in a highly collaborative team environment and be an effective communicator at all levels.

Technically strong with a systems process and improvement outlook, you will have, and be looking to further develop, solid accounting skills and experience working with complex budgets and financial reports, teamed with a good understanding of financial management systems.

  • Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $96,465 to $107,183 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
