Pure Glenorchy has been operating immersive half-day tours from Queenstown into the dramatic landscapes of Glenorchy, Paradise and the Mt Aspiring National Park since 2005. We specialise in bringing the world of The Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit to life — visiting filming locations such as Isengard, Amon Hen, Lothlórien forest and more.

We're a family-owned business, with a strong reputation for knowledgeable, fun, engaging guides in an exceptional scenic environment.

Now we're looking to grow our team and find a guide who's as passionate about the LotR/Hobbit films, the outdoors and storytelling as we are.

As a Tour Guide you will:

• Drive a 4WD (or similar) vehicle on scenic routes from Queenstown to Glenorchy & Paradise.
• Deliver lively, engaging tours through the landscapes where the films were made — sharing film-location history, behind-the-scenes trivia, local environment and nature.
• Speak clear, confident English (and ideally be comfortable with other languages or translation tools as a plus).
• Connect with guests of all ages and backgrounds, telling stories, answering questions and creating unforgettable experiences.
• Be comfortable outdoors – short walks, uneven terrain, changing weather – leading guests safely and enthusiastically.
• Operate with professionalism, punctuality, and excellent guest service: hospitality mindset, friendly, attentive.
• Work as part of a small tight-knit team, helping with logistics, guest check-in, vehicle maintenance, and ensuring the tour runs smoothly.

• A genuine and deep love for the Lord of the Rings / Hobbit films and lore — you'll be narrating that world and want to live it a little.
• Clear, articulate English speaking ability.
• P endorsement or willing to obtain
• First Aid cert or willing to obtain
• Valid full driver's licence and proven ability to drive 4WD vehicles on varied terrain.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, with a good level of fitness.
• Excellent storytelling, interpersonal and communication skills — you enjoy engaging an audience, making them laugh, think and remember.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Queenstown / Glenorchy area (or commute reliably).
• Own car to get to work
• A professional, positive attitude, team-player mindset and hospitality orientation.
• Flexibility regarding schedule — tours depart morning and afternoon, sometimes weekends and peak seasons.
• A customer-service mindset: you'll represent our brand, our values and our guests' experience.
