About the role

Fable Dunedin Hotel is an award-winning luxury hotel in the heart of Dunedin Central. Fable Dunedin won an Excellence Award in five categories at the Haute Grandeur Global Award 2022. The hotel has also won Best Hotel at the Lion Hospitality NZ Award and Excellence in Service at the Grand South Awards 2022.

This stunning property is looking for a Kitchen Hand to assist in our busy kitchen. This is a fast-paced environment, so you need to be well-organised, self-motivated and not afraid of hard work. We are looking for someone who wants to learn the ins and outs of a commercial kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Washing of cutlery, crockery, kitchen equipment, and appliances using either industrial washing machines or hand washing as appropriate
  • Cleaning of all kitchen workspaces, working to cleaning schedule
  • Cleaning of food storage areas including fridges, ensuring that principles of food hygiene are being observed
  • Assist in basic food preparation; grating, peeling, chopping, preparing batters, garnishes and seasonings.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts including weekends, public holidays, day and evening shifts
  • Hold NZ citizenship, permanent residency or a current valid work visa
  • Physically able to complete the tasks required to this position
  • Warm and friendly personality with a great can-do attitude
  • Good communication skills and be able to work in a team
  • A high level of personal cleanliness
  • To ideally be free from skin allergies to foods and detergents
