To support our continued growth, we are seeking an Internal Accountant to take ownership of our internal finance function, help develop better financial insights, and contribute to smarter business decisions across the firm.

You will replace the accountant that has been in this role for 5 years at the firm.


What the Role Involves

You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial operations, including:

  • Xero processing and bank reconciliations.
  • Managing payables & receivables.
  • Fortnightly payroll.
  • Trust accounting and Actionstep trust reconciliation.
  • Billing, WIP reporting and analysis.
  • GST, PAYE, and IRD correspondence and compliance.
  • Supporting monthly management reporting and cashflow reporting with external accountants.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, monitoring of performance and improvements to financial processes.
  • Producing custom reports and financial insights as required from time to time (e.g., team performance, matter profitability, cashflow projections, etc.).
  • Partnering with leadership to interpret financial data and support decision-making.

Skills & Experience We're Looking For

Must have:

  • Intermediate to Senior accounting experience.
  • Strong capability with Xero.
  • Experience managing AP, AR, and payroll.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work autonomously and communicate confidently.

Ideal / Advantageous:

  • Experience with Actionstep.
  • Experience with Hubdoc.
  • Familiarity with ANZ Direct.
  • Exposure to Power BI or dashboard/report creation.
  • Professional services environment experience preferred.
