Role Description

Position: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Location: Flexible / Remote / Headquarters

Reporting To: CEO / Board of Directors

Overview

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a strategic executive role responsible for defining and executing the company's overall technology vision, product innovation roadmap, and engineering strategy. The CTO will lead technical architecture, digital transformation, infrastructure modernization, and emerging technology adoption, ensuring that technology initiatives align with business objectives, scalability, performance, compliance, and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

I. Technology Strategy & Architecture

Define and execute long-term technology vision aligned with business strategy

Provide leadership in systems architecture, cloud strategy, and platform scalability

Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate innovative solutions to enhance competitiveness

Drive automation and digitization initiatives to improve operational efficiency

II. Product & Engineering Leadership

Lead engineering, development, infrastructure, data, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams

Oversee product architecture, API frameworks, system integrations, and technical documentation

Ensure high-quality delivery of software products and platforms using modern SDLC methodologies

Establish technical KPIs, OKRs, and performance metrics for engineering teams

III. Cybersecurity & Compliance

Build and maintain cybersecurity infrastructure, governance, and risk management processes

Ensure compliance with industry regulations (SOC2, GDPR, ISO27001, PCI-DSS, etc.)

Oversee data governance, data privacy frameworks, and secure system design

IV. Innovation & Technology Roadmap

Lead R&D efforts, machine learning initiatives, AI enablement, and emerging technology adoption

Build and manage Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and pilot implementations

Drive platform scalability for global expansion

V. Budgeting & Vendor Management

Develop technology budgets, engineering resource plans, and project financial forecasts

Manage relationships with cloud providers, SaaS vendors, cybersecurity firms, and integration partners

VI. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with product, finance, sales, marketing, legal, and compliance teams

Support enterprise client technology reviews, due diligence, and audits

Represent technology vision in board-level discussions and strategic presentations

Qualifications

Education & Background

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

MBA or equivalent strategic leadership experience preferred

Professional Experience

15+ years of overall technology experience, including:

8+ years in engineering leadership roles

Experience scaling global platforms, cloud-native infrastructure, microservices, and distributed systems

Proven track record of building and leading engineering teams of 50–300 people

Technical Expertise

Strong understanding of cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP)

Expert in system architecture, DevOps, SRE, CI/CD, cybersecurity, and API ecosystem design

Familiarity with AI, ML, blockchain, and digital infrastructure trends (depending on industry)

Soft Skills

Strong strategic thinking, communication, and executive presentation skills

Ability to lead in fast-paced, high-growth, technology-driven environments

High integrity, customer-centric mindset, and business acumen

Reporting Structure

Reports to: CEO / Board of Directors

Direct Reports: VP Engineering, Head of DevOps, Product Engineering Managers, Cybersecurity Lead, Data Engineering Lead
