The Dry Goods Department at PAK'nSAVE Hastings is looking to gain some strength in the form of of a dynamic, agile and savvy Assistant Manager (2IC), who will be directly responsible for store Grocery operations within the wider department. This role exists to support and team up with the Dry Goods Manager, to effectively manage and run a large, high-output department to service the Hastings community with Hawkes Bay's best Dry deals Covering position segments like operations, compliance, people leading and safety, this role is for someone who is looking to soak up their next FMCG experience and add to their skillset, learning from the best of the best.

The days and hours are as follows:

  • Sunday to Thursday 5.00am-1.30pm (40 hours per week)

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Motivating, coaching and supporting the Grocery Department, and wider Dry Goods team, ensuring that best practice policies and operational procedures are followed at all times
  • Effectively ensuring that all departments are stocked throughout opening hours and FIFO and stock rotation procedures are adhered to, as well as merchandising standards and processes are kept
  • Ensuring all food safety and health & safety standards are maintained in accordance to the relevant policies
  • Working and liaising with the Operations team to ensure efficiency in processes and productivity of team
  • Complete effective performance reviews, end-to-end recruitment for the Grocery Department and full payroll timesheets for relevant team members
  • Ensuring price integrity of Grocery items at all times through proper practices

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Ideally, at least 1-2 years leadership or management experience.
  • Commanding leadership and coaching skills
  • Extremely customer-focused outlook
  • Excellent planning & organizing skills
  • A Current Managers Certificate, as well as a Forklift license, is highly desired but not essential for the right candidate
