About the role
Te Taumata o Ngāti Whakaue Iho Ake Trust is seeking a Peer Support person to join our Housing Team based in Rotorua. This full-time position will see you playing a vital role in supporting our clients and contributing to the wellbeing of our local community.
What you'll be doing
- Take the lead on the delivery of Te Taumata's Peer Support Strategy
- Actively deliver a culturally competent service to clients, seek assistance and refer clients to culturally appropriate services as required. This will be achieved through the delivery of high-quality support services to mānaha on the Housing First programme
- Ensure the delivery of services incorporate our values and principles in all aspects of the role, particularly when supporting client recovery and utilising community resources, and actively working with clients to identify goals and support needs.
About you
You will succeed in this role if you:
- Can demonstrate a lived experience with homelessness and/or mental health and addiction
- Have proven experience in a personal recovery journey with the capacity to model resilience, hope, and healthy coping strategies for individuals currently facing similar barriers
- Have experience or training within the social services sector
