About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager – Group Risk to join our team in Auckland, reporting directly to the Head of Growth & Partnerships. This pivotal role involves hands-on management of key portfolios, ensuring seamless coordination and the delivery of daily activities for our valued business partners.

As the Manager – Group Risk, you will lead a team of technical experts, driving exceptional service and expertise to our clients. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day relationships with key accounts, overseeing workflow, and ensuring the performance of our Client Managers aligns with our Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Client Managers to deliver professional, accurate, and efficient responses to client needs.
  • Manage a portfolio of group risk clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Oversee the allocation of operational workflow within the team.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with business partners.
  • Provide hands-on account management for key client accounts.
  • Review and improve existing processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
  • Participate in business development activities to grow an already successful portfolio.
  • Drive organisational growth and improvement through active contribution to initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of client and customer requests.
  • Lead by example, providing coaching, training, and subject matter expertise to staff.

Skills, Experience, Knowledge and Attributes

  • Tertiary education or equivalent work experience (5+ years).
  • Proven experience in one or more of the following:
  • People leadership and management.
  • Leading teams in customer service environments.
  • Group Insurance and/or Employee Benefits administration.
  • Insurance, Finance, or Banking sectors.
  • A continuous improvement mindset focused on efficiency, accuracy, and service excellence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, results-oriented mindset, and excellent time management skills.
  • Proven ability to build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal), with strong negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • A mature, charismatic personality with the leadership and diplomacy to work effectively across all levels.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong work ethic, self-discipline, and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office 365, including Word, Excel, Access, and Power BI.
