Job Summary:

The Plant Engineer is responsible for overseeing the engineering functions within the cabinet manufacturing facility. This role ensures the plant operates efficiently, safely, and sustainably while meeting production targets and quality standards. The Plant Engineer will collaborate with various departments to improve processes, implement new technologies, and maintain equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement

  • Optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and material utilisation
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve workflows
  • Develop and monitor key KPIs related to productivity, utilisation, downtime, and quality

Production & Engineering Support

  • Analyse production and equipment data to identify bottlenecks and implement engineering solutions
  • Improve manufacturing systems, workflow design, layout optimisation, and capacity planning
  • Support the implementation of standardised engineering processes and systems related to new technologies and manufacturing methods

Project Management

  • Lead engineering projects including new equipment installation and upgrades
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and vendors on engineering specifications and system integration during equipment commissioning

Equipment Reliability & Technical Support

  • Analyse equipment performance data to improve system-level reliability and reduce downtime through engineering solutions
  • Provide technical guidance to production and maintenance teams

Safety & Quality

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with health and safety standards
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and SOP development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience in manufacturing, preferably in the cabinet or woodworking industry.

  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and engineering design tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
