We have an opening for an Architect to join the Strategy and Architecture Practice. It's a great opportunity to join an established practice and experienced team that's got a healthy pipeline of work to execute on our Technology, Data and Digital Strategy.

The Strategy and Architecture Practice works across ASB to help us reach our goals through discovering current architectures, defining target state architectures, creating roadmaps and solution architecture. We are pioneers, visionaries, and are nuts about turning technology strategy into reality, through collaboration.

Mo te tūranga | About the Role

As an Architect, you'll be embedded within an Architecture squad to work on a variety of solutions, learn from your colleagues, and shape technology strategies. You'll work in a group of Enterprise and Solution Architects with different areas of expertise (e.g. Business, Applications, Data, Security, Infrastructure, Integration), so keeping an eye on the big and small pictures and working to your strengths as well as learning from and leveraging other experts will be key.

In this role you will typically work across a number of projects in the squad's portfolio, assessing solution options, recommending architecture decisions and owning the development of a solution architecture that addresses a defined business need in alignment with our target architecture.

You'll be a wiz at building rapport and communicating with all types of people, so everyone understands, and is on board with solution and design choices, and understands what that means in terms that are relevant to each person. As part of a Practice, you'll also form part of a close-knit team of experts and will contribute towards building the capability of the Strategy and Architecture Practice, set up guard-rails, leverage best practice and drive continuous improvement.

Ō pūkenga | About you

You will have a computer science or software engineering background and will have spent time in an enterprise engineering or IT services environment. You possess deep experience in architecture, product development and/or engineering with significant exposure to, and understanding of IT service management, business analysis, quality assurance, project management and software delivery methodology.

Your effective communication and people skills will help you build relationships, understand and communicate complex information, and get different people on board with the same plan. You'll be excited about the new, live on the cusp of new technology and how this can make what we do, better.

As a starter for success, we'd love some of the following experience and skills:

• 3+ years' experience as an Architect, or equivalent role, in an enterprise environment
• Demonstrated understanding of the disciplines of solution and enterprise architecture
• Experience with principles and practices related to cloud technologies
• Experience and understanding of data models, interoperability and connectivity using industry standards
• Expertise in integration patterns and technologies, data models (APIs and event streaming), and integration of Cloud and on-prem workloads
• Systems and/or software design
• Contributing to short- and long-term tech strategy

In addition; either of the following would be nice to have:

• Experience in digital and/or customer related business domains and associated technologies
• Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), modelling and notation
