About the team | Ko te rōpū nei

The Survey Team deliver a diverse range of engineering and cadastral survey services in support of both capital and operational projects, which contribute to the growth and success of our City. We are part of the Technical Services and Design Unit who are an in-house shared service comprised of technical and design professionals responsible for providing specialist advice and services across the Council.

In this role you will have true ownership over your work and will be responsible for seeing projects from conception right through to delivery. With full ownership comes full accountability so you'll need to be results focused and passionate about getting things right for the good of the community. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing cadastral and engineering surveying services for water supply, stormwater and wastewater utilities, roading, housing and recreation facilities to enable delivery of CCC's capital programme
  • Providing advice to Property Consultancy and Legal Services relating to property purchases for Capital Programme projects
  • Acting as a professional advisor for issues relating to legal and engineering surveying

You will also be able to work towards Registered Professional Surveyor (RPSurv) status. The work activities are wide and varied to assist with achieving that goal.

To be successful, it is essential you hold a current Cadastral Licence and have a thorough understanding of the Canterbury Property Boundaries and Related Matters Act as you will be responsible for lodging cadastral survey datasets with Land Information New Zealand. You will also have:

  • Relevant post-graduate cadastral and engineering surveyor experience
  • Experience in a similar role in a large scale/complex organisation
  • Developing experience with consultation and managing partnerships internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication including report writing and presentation.
  • Advanced computer skills in the Windows environment, including Landonline eSurveys and 12d Model data processing.

The team utilise a variety of modern survey equipment including UAV's laser scanners, the latest GPS and robotic total station equipment and the software to support the equipment. Having a keen interest in technology and innovation would be a distinct advantage.

Hours of work hours per week

Position - Permanent

Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street

Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $105,450 to $117,167 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
