Tilemax Hamilton (T/A Tiles on Devon) is a leading supplier of quality tiles and trade materials, proudly New Zealand owned and operated.  We're known for our quality products, expert advice, and exceptional service to both retail and trade customers. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Retail Sales Person to join our Hamilton showroom team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused individual with a passion for interiors, design, and great service. The role involves guiding customers through product selections, preparing quotes, and ensuring an exceptional in-store experience.

You will also support our trade customers with orders and enquiries, developing strong professional relationships and contributing to our ongoing reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and design advice in the showroom
  • Assist customers with product selection, colour coordination, and layout concepts
  • Manage sales transactions, quotes, and customer follow-ups
  • Liaise with trade customers and manage trade orders
  • Measure from plans and prepare quotes (training provided)
  • Maintain showroom presentation, including displays and merchandising
  • Coordinate customer tile and material orders and stock availability
  • Assist with general showroom or operational tasks as required

Skills and Experience

  • Proven customer service or sales experience, ideally within retail, interiors, or trade industries
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain strong client relationships
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and multitasking skills
  • A keen eye for design and confidence with colour matching and coordination
  • Goal-oriented, with a focus on achieving sales targets and KPIs
  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn in-house systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work
  • Physically capable of lifting tiles and assisting with customer vehicle loading when required
  • A positive, professional attitude and commitment to teamwork
