Your role? You'll be the leader on the floor. With the support of our offsite Café Manager, you're the one running the bakery day to day – setting the pace, supporting the team, and making sure every guest gets that great Boat Shed experience. From coffee service to cabinet presentation to team coaching, you'll have your hands on everything that keeps the bakery humming.

In your day-to-day:

You'll lead the front-of-house team, making sure service is smooth, warm, and efficient. Cabinets will be stocked and styled, the coffee queue moving, and every customer – locals, runners fresh off the track, travelers and families – leaving happy and well fed.

You'll handle the details that make service work:

  • Managing daily operations and leading the FOH team

  • Updating menus and pricing on the POS system, cash-ups, and troubleshooting

  • Ordering and monitoring stock so coffee, pastries, ice cream, and retail shelves stay full

  • Working closely with the kitchen to coordinate food flow during peak times

  • Keeping standards high across coffee, food service, and customer experience

  • Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and H&S compliance

  • Supporting the Café Manager with feedback, service improvements, and cost-efficiency

Some days you'll be making coffees, others working on rosters, stock orders, or coaching the team – but all of them put you right at the centre of Queenstown's go-to spot for coffee and pastry.

You'll thrive here if you:

  • Have 3+ years of hospitality or bakery leadership experience

  • Love leading a team and creating a positive, professional work environment

  • Have solid coffee knowledge and a genuine passion for great service

  • Keep cool under pressure and naturally take charge in busy moments

  • Are organised, reliable, and strong on time management

  • Don't mind early mornings and weekend shifts – that's when the magic happens

  • Know the ins and outs of food safety and hospitality standards
