Job Description

As our Health, Safety & Environment Manager, you will provide leadership and direction across our precinct, Pullman, Novotel & ibis Budget hotels to ensure we deliver on all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategies, initiatives, and compliance requirements. You will be responsible for embedding a strong safety culture, coordinating environmental and sustainability initiatives, and guiding our leaders to create a safe and supportive workplace.

Your role will include:

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring Health, Safety & Environment strategies and policies.
  • Managing incident reporting, investigations, risk and security assessments, and accident prevention.
  • Leading WHS Committees, audits, emergency response procedures, and compliance training.
  • Overseeing workplace rehabilitation and ACC processes.
  • Driving environmental initiatives, sustainability projects, and ESG reporting.
  • Providing accurate monthly reports and metrics to support strategic decision-making.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and guiding leaders and team members to embrace proactive HSE practices.

This is a pivotal role where you will engage with a variety of stakeholders internally (leaders, team members, Accor colleagues) and externally (WorkSafe NZ, ACC, auditors, insurers, and governing bodies).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within hospitality or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of NZ Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead WHS initiatives, audits, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • High level of personal integrity, empathy, and ability to manage sensitive matters with confidentiality.
