Gochu is on the hunt for a visionary Head Chef to lead our kitchen and help shape the next evolution of modern Korean dining in Aotearoa. We're a restaurant known for big flavors, playful creativity, and a commitment to quality — and we're looking for someone who can take that energy and push it even further.

What we're looking for:

  • A chef with strong leadership experience and a passion for mentoring a tight-knit, high-performing team
  • A deep understanding of Korean flavors, techniques, and ingredients — or a strong background in contemporary Asian cuisine
  • Someone excited about innovation, seasonal menus, and balancing tradition with fresh, Kiwi-forward ideas
  • A calm, organized operator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • A collaborator eager to work alongside our owners to evolve the Gochu brand and guest experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role

What you'll do:

  • Lead day-to-day kitchen operations with consistency, care, and high standards
  • Develop and execute creative, flavor-driven menus that reflect Gochu's identity
  • Manage ordering, costing, and kitchen financials
  • Maintain exceptional food quality, safety, and hygiene
  • Inspire and grow your team through training, coaching, and positive leadership
