The Dunedin City Council is looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to join the Finance Team as a Financial Analyst. You will be part of a team that is responsible for providing customer focused financial information, advice and services by being part of a team of technically competent and innovative staff.
Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, this is a busy, interesting and varied role. The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to the following:
- Providing timely and accurate financial information and business support to assist effective financial management, oversight, and decision-making.
- Analysing monthly reporting and providing insights for Council activities on capital and operational results against budget and prior years.
- Driving and providing support to budgeting and forecasting processes for respective council activities.
- Supporting the finance team with general management accounting functions.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest quality outcomes are achieved
- Strong analytical and financial skills and the ability to influence effective outcomes based on sound reasoning
- A sound and in-depth knowledge of both the theory and practice in management accounting, including financial policy and frameworks
- Experience working in a professional business environment or comparable local government organisations.
