Mechanical Engineering Technician – Gisborne

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving production machinery and site infrastructure. You'll collaborate with other team members to ensure our equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably — supporting the delivery of high-quality fresh produce to kiwi families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance on plant machinery
  • Perform fault-finding, testing, and equipment optimisation
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams and specifications
  • Assist with project work, new installations, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Fabricate and assemble mechanical components and pipework
  • Complete accurate maintenance documentation (FIIX)
  • Promote food safety, Zero Harm, and environmental best practices

About You

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Trade qualification or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology

Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical or engineering trades (industry experience desired)

Food processing or manufacturing experience is a strong advantage

Proven ability in diagnostics, fabrication, and maintenance of mechanical systems

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Competent in reading technical drawings and following safety procedures

Willingness to work shiftwork as required
