About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Sales & Business Development Manager to join our New Zealand team.

In this role you will lead a team of sales engineers in growing an established client base while actively developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Sales: Supporting the sales team in promoting SEW-Eurodrive's products and maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients and distributors​.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities and applications for our innovative product range, expanding our market presence in the region.
  • Technical Support: Serve as a trusted technical advisor, providing hands-on support and troubleshooting for rotating equipment (motors, gear units, drives, etc.).
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with our sales, production and support teams to develop proposals and quotes that meet customer needs.
  • Reporting & Planning: Prepare sales forecasts, and account plans. Arrange regular sales meetings and develop strategies for growth across the country.
  • Marketing: Prepare product launches and provide marketing material to the sales team and to ensure clients are updated on new product developments and upgrades. Arrange trade shows and participation in industry events and conferences.
  • Staffing: Recruit sales staff. Prepare training pathways and managing learning objectives for the sales team.
  • Participation: Participate in international meetings and national professional body activities.

Skills & Experience (About You)

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of technical sales experience in industrial or engineering products – ideally with SEW-Eurodrive's drive solutions or similar rotating equipment (e.g. motors, gearboxes, variable speed drives)​. You have a proven track record of solution selling to industrial customers and achieving sales targets.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial power transmission, especially reduction gearboxes and electric motors. Familiarity with industrial automation, motion control products is highly advantageous​.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related) is highly preferred​. A relevant trade qualification combined with solid industry experience will also be considered.
  • Communication & Management Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of staff and customers. You can translate complex technical information into value for clients and are confident in presenting and negotiating.
  • Problem Solving: Aptitude for diagnosing issues and thinking on your feet to provide solutions. You enjoy the challenge of finding the right technical solution for a customer's problem.
