General Manager Grocery

We're looking for a commercially astute, results driven and influential sales leader with a proven experience in senior FMCG sales roles, to step into the newly created role of
General Manager Grocery
. This is a critical leadership appointment within our Executive Team NZ, carrying full accountability for the strategic direction, commercial performance, and operational excellence of our Grocery division nationwide. Reporting to our Managing Director NZ, this full-time permanent role is based at our Head Office in Ellerslie, Auckland (with regular domestic travel required).

The General Manager Grocery opportunity offers the scope to influence the trajectory of the business across all categories and customers, and to be set up for success in role, we'd expect the successful candidate to bring solid FMCG grocery experience, excellent business acumen skills and a leadership style that naturally engages, empowers and takes team on the journey as we focus on delivering our growth aspirations

What you'll be responsible for:

• Leading, engaging and inspiring a high-performing sales team, including 6 direct reports (Business Managers and Regional Field Sales Managers) and wider indirect teams
• Representing the Grocery division at Executive Team level, shaping decisions that impact the entire business
• Partnering closely with the wider commercial business to support delivering key business outcomes
• Developing and executing annual business plans that deliver market share gains, revenue growth, and brand success across NZ's leading grocery retailers (including responsibility for delivering key grocery sales objectives and revenue targets)
• Managing sales and trade investment to deliver on our targets, across both Branded and Private Label
• Build and strengthen relationships with key retailers, negotiating at the most senior level (including implementing strategies to protect, grow and diversify relationships and value creation)
• Accountability for the strategic directions of sales and operational management of the sales force
• Leading the preparation and presenting of price and promotional strategies, category and NPD reviews and communication to retailers, created to excite customers and consumers alike

What you'll bring to the role?

• Proven senior leadership in grocery retail or FMCG, with a track record of delivering at scale
• Demonstrated success in managing large, complex P&Ls and driving commercial outcomes
• Strong leadership skills with a passion for inspiring, empowering and developing diverse teams
• Deep knowledge of NZ grocery market dynamics, consumer trends, and competitive landscape
• Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with credibility at the most senior levels
• Strategic vision combined with the ability to translate ambition into execution
• Excellent communication and business partnering skills - you can effectively tailor your approach and love working with a range of people and teams, either in person or remotely
