About Us
Southern Cross Health Insurance is shaping a healthier Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is simple: empowering our members to live well for longer. We're here to give peace of mind through timely access to quality care, inspire healthier living, and lead positive change across the health system. As a New Zealand-owned, member-based organisation, we're building a future where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do — delivering exceptional value for our members and creating an environment where our people thrive.
Now is an exciting time to join us. You'll be part of a high-performing, values-driven team where people are at the heart of everything we do — and in return for your talent, you'll have the opportunity to grow, make an impact, and be proud of the difference your work makes.
About The Role
We're looking for a Workday superstar to join our team on a 12-month fixed term
Here at Southern Cross, we have big ambitions for our Workday ecosystem. As we gear up for several major projects in 2026 to simplify and elevate the Workday experience for our people, we're looking for a Workday Superstar /
People Systems Analyst
to help free up internal capacity and keep our BAU running at pace.
We're after someone with solid experience across HCM, Recruitment, Learning, Compensation and Absence (bonus points for advanced comp or reporting) and a genuine passion for making Workday seamless, intuitive, and impactful for our people. This role is busy, varied, and full of problem-solving. You'll be confident engaging with stakeholders, asking the right questions to get to the root of an issue, and taking solutions end-to-end - from analysis through to configuration. You'll also play a meaningful part in influencing our 2026 Workday programme of work.
What You'll Do
You'll have the chance to work across a wide range of tasks, giving you deep exposure to the heart of our people systems, including:
- Reviewing, creating, and updating business processes and workflows
- Supporting our Talent Acquisition, People Operations and Generalist teams with Workday troubleshooting and queries
- Creating and maintaining learning campaigns
- Supporting Health & Safety incident reporting workflows
- Building and maintaining reports and dashboards
- Leveraging Hubs to improve access to information and create great user experiences
- Upskilling People Leaders and our People Team on Workday capability
- Working in the grey - piecing together information, navigating ambiguity, and solving problems with clarity and calmness
Why this role is different (and worth your time)
- You'll have genuine influence over how we simplify, automate, and enhance Workday for thousands of employees.
- Enjoy autonomy, ownership, and the space to do your best thinking.
- Career-building exposure - although this role is BAU-focused, you'll have visibility into our 2026 initiatives, contributing to discovery and design as we prepare for transformational changes.
- You'll be joining a small, collaborative team that problem-solves together, learns together, and genuinely celebrates wins. We care about each other - and it shows.
- A modern, improvement-driven environment - we value continuous improvement, smart design, and using Workday the way it was intended - to make our people's time at work easier, not more complex.
What You'll Bring
- Deep, hands-on Workday configuration experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills, analytical thinking, and curiosity
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced team and enjoys variety and autonomy
Recognised for Innovation
We're proud to have been named a finalist for the
Workday Elevate Innovation Award
, celebrating our use of technology to enhance the employee experience. Our journey was showcased at Workday Elevate Auckland - highlighting how we're streamlining processes and empowering our people.
Our values who we are and what's important to us.
Ngākau nui. Āhurutanga. Tikanga.
Join a proud diverse team, that's
always there, always real, always true.
If you thrive in a caring, honest and open culture, we think you'll love working with us.
Based at our Auckland office Te Kupenga, we offer an excellent work/life balance. You will be supported to continually learn and improve your skills, share knowledge and ideas and be part of an amazing values-based culture where people are at its heart.
We are proud to be Rainbow Tick accredited, and we facilitate an active employee-led Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forum which supports many diverse groups including our Māori network, Pasifika Collective, Neurodiversity and Whānau Support networks.
If you share our commitment and passion, we'd love to hear from you.
