The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake aims to improve trust and confidence in public services by giving New Zealanders an independent view of government spending and performance. As the statutory auditor of all public organisations, from councils to schools, the Auditor-General's work plays a major part in ensuring that our public sector remains one of the most trusted in the world.
We're looking for an experienced Analytical Product Lead to join our Data and Analytics team. You'll play a key role in a programme focused on providing the data foundations, advanced analytics, and data sharing capability for the Office of the Auditor-General and Audit New Zealand.
About the role
This is a 12-month fixed-term position in the implementation team for our new data and analytics platform. The role would suit someone keen to be part of setting up our new Snowflake data platform and transforming our data and analytics capability. As the Analytical Product Lead, you'll sit at the intersection of data, product, and strategy and you'll own the vision and roadmap for analytical products.
You'll work closely with the Data Platform and Integration Lead, Data Engineer, and Analytics Engineer to:
- Define and drive the product strategy for analytical tools, dashboards, and data platforms.
- Translate business needs into clear product requirements and user stories.
- Prioritise features and enhancements based on impact, feasibility, and user feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Champion data literacy and self-service analytics across the organisation.
- Monitor product performance and continuously iterate to improve usability and value.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in data and analytics.
To succeed in this role, you'll have:
- Strong experience in analytical product management, ideally in data and analytics or technology-focused programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for solving complex problems with data.
- A drive to ensure that New Zealand's public entities are spending taxpayers' money effectively and efficiently.
Ideally, you'll also have a good knowledge of:
- the machinery of government and its accountability mechanisms and audit;
- experience with cloud platforms; and
- experience in New Zealand's public sector.
We offer our staff:
- Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
- Supportive hybrid working arrangements (flexible hours/days).
- Health and well-being benefits.
