An amazing opportunity is available for a passionate kaiako to join our whānau at Te Puna Reo o Pukehinahina in January 2026  We are seeking a Full-time Qualified kaiako to be part of our team and provide quality Early Childhood Education in a kaupapa Māori, immersion setting. We are passionate about Te Ao Māori and nurturing our tamariki to stand strong in their tuakiritanga "Ko ngā Kohungahunga te iwi māori o apōpō." We value ringa raupā, aroha tētahi ki tētahi, mātauranga and above all else a great sense of humour.

Our Ideal new Kaiako will:

-Possess a sound understanding of Tikanga Māori and preferably be proficient in Te Reo Māori or otherwise show a strong Commitment to develop their Reo

-Have a Current Teaching Council of Aotearoa Practicing Certificate

-Have at least three years recent experience working on the floor within ECE; Qualified and Un-qualified experience applies.

-Have excellent communication, planning, documentation and organisation skills.

-Show enthusiasm and a strong desire to make a difference to children in their early years while building strong links with their whānau and wider hāpori.

-Be a passionate, committed, team mate who adds their strengths, skills and mātauranga to our Puna, while wholly supporting and fostering the development of their peers.

-Have great problem-solving skills, show calm in the face of a storm, be compassionate and be committed to upholding quality practice standards and the principles of Te Whāriki.

-They will have knowledge and understanding of current early childhood education theory, in particular regard to Te Ao Māori Philosophy as well as Brain Development and Neurodiversity Research.
