Are you passionate about cohesive user experiences and eager to make a significant impact in the financial sector? We're seeking a talented Automation Tester to build and shape our test strategy in the Design System team. This team creates design tokens, components, and patterns, simplifying how developers build applications for our customers. You'll drive the testing strategy as we extend our Web Design System into Mobile experiences. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that impacts thousands of banking customers daily. Please note this role is based in Auckland.
 
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role 
As a part of BNZ's Design System team, you will play a crucial role in building cohesive, accessible user and developer experiences. This role involves developing and implementing modern technology foundations to build market-leading experiences. You will collaborate with various teams and stakeholders, to deliver connected and unified experiences across mobile and web platforms. 
 
As a Automation Tester, you will ensure the quality and performance of BNZ's mobile and web applications. You will be responsible for designing and executing test plans, identifying and reporting bugs, and working closely with developers to ensure that the apps meet the highest standards of quality. Your work will contribute to delivering a seamless and reliable experience for our customers. 
 
What are some day to day tasks the successful candidate in this role will complete? 

· The person will spend their days creating, updating and performing automated tests for new features and bug fixes, then analysing the results to identify issues. 

· A key part of the role is working closely with developers and UX to discuss requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and ensure a shared understanding of quality. 

· They will be responsible for creating and updating automated test scripts or manual testing of applications (where required) to improve our continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. 

· The candidate will actively investigate reported bugs, reproduce issues, and provide detailed information to developers to help them find a solution quickly. 

·  As a team member, they will help foster a culture for quality, help define testing strategies for our web and mobile offerings, and act as a go-to person for quality-related questions. 

What are some of the responsibilities of this role? 

· Working with an agile product delivery team to develop a common understanding of screens and user flows as they are designed to work. 

· Identify and test for issues in accessibility and usability when designs are translated into reality. 

·Thinking critically and laterally about test design, mitigating project risks through an appropriate test approach, and exploring the application to expose vulnerabilities beyond the business requirements. 

· Working with developers to create appropriate automated checks using existing tools. 

· Clearly communicate defects to the designers and your agile team. 

· Develop and implement modern technology foundations to enhance BNZ's digital presence. 

What specific skills and experience are required for this role? 

· Proven experience in Xcode AND Android Studio. 

· Proven experience testing apps made using SwiftUI AND Jetpack Compose. 

· Familiarity with Espresso or XCUITest is a bonus. 

· Knowledge of the latest mobile technology/trends. 

· Proven experience doing component testing on Web platforms, and how they should be implemented on a page. 

· Understanding of Web and Mobile accessibility 

What will success look like for the candidate in this tūranga (role)? 

Success means delivering a strong testing strategy for both iOS and Android, as well as improving the Web approach throughout the design system. Success is also shown by your ability to collaborate and communicate smoothly with UX and front-end developers, ensuring best practices in accessibility and design system testing are established.

You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities, with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges. 

You should thrive in a fast-changing environment, quickly adapt to shifting priorities, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving capabilities combined with a proactive mindset.
