Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:
We are seeking a mechanical maintenance professional with supervisory experience. This role is based at our Kawerau Geothermal power station (55 minutes from Rotorua or 35 minutes from Whakatane) and involves ensuring station is maintained to a high standard, enabling safe and reliable operation. You will work alongside staff from maintenance, production, engineering and other Mercury generation sites.
The hours for this role are 7:30am – 4pm, Monday to Friday where you'll join a close-knit team that values supporting each other and putting safety first. In addition to your competitive salary, you will receive a laptop and mobile phone for day-to-day use. Overtime opportunities do come up during outages, but the majority of your day to day work is steady and predictable.
We have a strong focus on growth and progression - you'll have the opportunity to share your expertise and skills with others, and carry out routine maintenance to ensure our units consistently generate electricity to meet demand. Work alongside passionate colleagues and be provided with all the necessary tools and equipment to excel in your role. You'll receive regular on-the-job coaching, a personal develop plan tailored to your goals and opportunities to move within Mercury as opportunities arise. We're also ramping up our in-house training programs, with pathways to gain additional qualifications relevant to your role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot and problem solve plant issues, executing reactive maintenance tasks
- Supervision of Mercury mechanical maintenance staff and contractors
- Use Risk Assessments to plan long term maintenance
- Identify, share and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion a world class attitude to health and safety
Mōu | About you:
- Trade qualification in Maintenance and Diagnostics or Mechanical Engineering Level 4. Advanced trade qualification is an advantage.
- Plant operations / process control or maintenance experience in power generation or heavy industry
- Skills in the use of CMMS (Maximo), contractor management and technical troubleshooting
- Enthusiasm and passion for a job well done
- Experience with Geothermal steam turbines and/or major hazard facilities (MHF) would be an advantage.
