Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner

My client is a dynamic, global business in the building and construction products sector. Servicing trade customers with a superior range in their specialist categories, the business is a big player in the wholesale/merchant space. 

I am looking for a proactive Part-Time Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner who is passionate about people, risk management and cultivating a safety-first culture. About the role:

• A hands-on, autonomous role where you will provide practical, people-focused health, safety, and wellbeing advice
• Maintain and improve safety systems and risk management processes
• Support managers to be confident, visible safety role models
• Deliver engaging training sessions (both face-to-face and online)
• Ensure compliance with NZ health and safety legislation and standards
• Assist with incident investigations and return-to-work processes
• Foster open, positive conversations around wellbeing in the workplace
• Willingness to travel nationally as required to support branches and teams
• Practical, day-to-day support and guidance to managers and employees on safety and wellbeing matters
• Lead and contribute to safety meetings, training sessions, and wellbeing initiatives
• Conduct audits, investigations, and follow-up actions to drive continuous improvement
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, ACC, contractors, and suppliers to support compliance and engagement
• Assist with risk management, injury claims, and return-to-work programs
• Deliver safety inductions and develop engaging, effective training materials

About you:

• You bring 5 years plus experience in an advisory role, along with relevant qualifications
• You pride yourself on your strong knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation, regulations and industry standards
• You have proven experience developing, implementing and maintaining safety systems, SOPs, and risk management tools
• You're confident in delivering training, facilitating group sessions, and engaging across all levels of the business
• You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• You are proficient with digital health & safety platforms, with the ability to analyse and report on performance data (HSI Donesafe experience a plus)
• Experience in, or understanding of, electrical or warehousing environments (preferred)
• A proactive self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and strong organisational skills
• Hands-on, adaptable safety professional with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for driving cultural change
