Auckland CBD, New Zealand AA Insurance Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

About the role:

We're looking for a talented, motivated and analytically minded Finance & Sustainability Specialist to join our Finance Business Partnering team.

The role sits at the intersection of finance and sustainability, with a strong foundation in financial reporting, forecasting and analysis. You'll work closely with business leaders to deliver accurate financial forecasts, insightful reporting and meaningful analysis that supports informed decision-making. You'll also build and refine financial models, track performance against plans and identify trends, risks and opportunities across the business.

Alongside your core finance work, you'll also lead the measurement and reporting of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This includes preparing data for annual Climate Statements, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure accuracy, and helping shape future sustainability initiatives and emissions reduction pathways.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who is looking for a change, enjoys deep analysis and wants to apply their skills to a future-focused area. While prior experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting isn't essential, a keen interest and passion for climate and sustainability will be key to be success successful in this role.

What you'll be doing:

  • Partner with business leaders to deliver accurate forecasts, insightful reporting and analysis that supports decision-making.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support planning, budgeting and performance tracking.
  • Analyse results, identify trends and provide clear commentary on business performance.
  • Support the wider Finance Business Partnering team with reporting, analysis and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement across all finance processes.
  • Lead the measurement and reporting of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions footprint.
  • Prepare emissions data and disclosures for Climate Statements and progress updates against reduction targets.
  • Work with Finance, Analytics and external assurance partners to ensure GHG data quality and consistency.
  • Contribute insights to support future sustainability initiatives and emissions reduction pathways.

What you'll bring with you:

  • Minimum of four years' experience in financial analysis, reporting and forecasting, ideally within a business partnering or accounting role.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and large datasets.
  • Strong ability to interpret and communicate financial insights that influence decisions.
  • A proactive, analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across finance and non-finance teams.
  • An interest in sustainability and a willingness to learn about GHG accounting and climate reporting.
  • Curiosity and initiative to improve processes and explore how financial performance connects to climate outcomes.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or related discipline.

Why you'll love working with us:

You'll be part of a collaborative Finance team that values curiosity, growth and continuous improvement. This role offers the chance to broaden your financial expertise while gaining hands-on experience in sustainability reporting, an area that's rapidly growing in importance across all industries.

You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact by combining your analytical and financial skills with work that contributes to our organisation's sustainability goals. We'll support you to learn, develop and explore new ways to add value, all within a purpose-led organisation committed to responsible business practices and long-term success.

Ready to take the next step in your career?

If you're ready to take on this exciting challenge, then we'd love to hear from you. Apply now and upload your CV along with a cover letter telling us why this role excites you and how your experience aligns with our needs.
