**The opportunity**:
We are looking for someone to help assist in leading our Checkout department into a new exciting era as we continue through our major refurbishment to transform our store into a leading fresh foods market. It will require determination, teamwork and a commitment to excellence to ensure everything we do is best in class. You will be given scope to try new things and do things differently to ensure we deliver to the needs of our customers in everything we do

There is strong potential for this to develop into further career opportunities in our store.

**Overall accountabilities**:
To supervise checkout staff on a day-to-day basis and to perform the Checkout Manager’s duties in their absence, assisting to maximise sales and customer service levels of the store.

In this role, you will enjoy the challenge of working alongside our Checkout Manager to:

- Manage the day to day operations of the Checkout Department
- Manage the sale and supply of Alcohol, Tobacco and Lotto (LCQ, Manager Certificate and Lotto Certificate is an advantage but training can be provided)
- Supervise staff
- Enhance the reputation of the business by promoting and encouraging ‘best practice’ levels of customer service
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints appropriately and ensuring effective interactions with customers at all times

You will be able to demonstrate the following:

- Computer literate
- Strong retail or hospitality experience
- Physically fit and able to fulfil the requirements of the role
- Good command of written / spoken English
- Good basic maths skills

Shifts will include a weekend day or evening and also weekday/evenings. The exact hours and days of the position will be discussed with applicants during the interview process.
