Ngā Pātaka Kōrero o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Libraries) have a strong community focus and we are an extraordinary destination for the people of Auckland. Our Library & Council Service Assistant play a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries within the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board, provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.

You will be working within a library whānau that has a team culture strong in te reo and tikanga Māori, a place where everyone can feel they belong. No two days are the same, you will greet and assist customers with a variety of queries from assisting customers to access library & council services, supporting with the delivery of programmes and events, digital troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, and general computer queries.

Many of our libraries are open 7 days a week so flexibility around working days, including weekends and late nights, is required. This is a 16 hour per week, permanent opportunity working across Saturday, Sunday & Monday.

Flexibility, adaptability, superb people skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for customer service and a can-do attitude are essential.
- Be willing to help create a whānau environment where everyone works together to achieve team goals
- Enjoy working with people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds particularly Pasifika and whānau Māori
- Be a quick learner who would be able to assist people with technology queries
- Love working with tamariki and can assist with programmes
- Enjoy day-to-day frontline library service and the opportunity to connect directly with our library patrons.
