**Tenei turanga - About the Role**:
In this role, you'll give advice to Ministers on whether applicants from all over the world looking to launch satellites from New Zealand meet the requirements of the Outer Space and High-altitude Activities Act.
We're looking for a motivated, new or developing regulatory or operational policy professional to join the team.
You will play a key role in implementing New Zealand's regulatory regime for space and high-altitude flight by:
- liaising with licence and permit applicants to gather information, communicate key regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with the Act
developing and implementing regulatory processes.

We are keen to hear from you if you have:
- the ability to manage licensing and permitting processes efficiently
- the ability to understand, use and explain legislation and regulations
- knowledge and understanding of risk-based government regulatory systems
- the ability to analyse information and make judgements
- good general problem identification and solution skills and an eye for detail.
- excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to express technical material in plain English and to provide Ministers with accurate, clear and well-thought-through advice
- excellent relationship management skills
- initiative, drive, and the ability to manage a varied workload
- the ability to develop and maintain effective operational processes
- willingness to work on a variety of projects to develop and maintain the regulatory system and support wider New Zealand Space Agency work
- a tertiary qualification or relevant work experience
**Other requirements**
Must have the right to live and work in New Zealand
**Desirable additional skills**:
Experience undertaking regulatory assessments and preparing advice on licensing decisions.
Experience in space/aviation related job or a demonstrable interest in this area
