Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Growth sector - services and $5B in critical infrastructure
- Enhance efficiency and reduce complexity
- Assist with consultation and stakeholder engagement

Support regulatory and pricing compliance, coordinate consultations, and improve processes

As New Zealand's only transmission company, Transpower's role as a State-Owned Enterprise is to build, operate, and maintain the National Grid. At the heart of the electricity sector, we have a unique and critical role helping to enable and accelerate a net-zero carbon future.

Transpower calculates annual transmission charges each year in accordance with the Transmission Pricing Methodology (TPM), which is a schedule of the Electricity Industry Participation Code and is governed by the Electricity Authority. Because we are a natural monopoly, our investments in grid assets and allowable revenue are regulated by the Commerce Commission.

**About the team**

The Grid Pricing team sits within Strategy, Regulation & Governance and is responsible for delivering the grid pricing function that determines how Transpower's costs as owner and operator of the National Grid (~$1B pa) are recovered from our customers. This includes implementing the Electricity Authority's Transmission Pricing Methodology (TPM), to recover Transpower's regulated costs as the grid owner, and pricing under investment contracts to recover the costs of new connection assets from the customer requiring them. Our Regulatory Advisor is a key person in supporting the delivery of pricing-related stakeholder engagement and processes.

**About the role**

As Regulatory Advisor you will play a key role in providing support on regulatory and pricing compliance matters, both within the Grid Pricing team and throughout Transpower. You will be responsible for supporting the Senior Regulatory Advisor and Head of Grid Pricing to deliver and coordinate grid pricing consultation and stakeholder engagement processes, developing supporting procedures and policy work. This involves:

- Working across the business with contributing technical experts to deliver accessible, high-quality consultation materials.
- Developing high quality processes and procedures with appropriate governance in place.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of compliance with the TPM and reduce complexity for our customers, including the development of any supporting collateral.
- Working closely with the Senior Regulatory Advisor & Regulatory Affairs team on other electricity industry matters, including in relation to electricity network pricing regulations and regulatory disclosures.

**What You Will Bring**
- **Experience**: 2 - 5 years of regulatory experience self-managing and delivering projects, along with a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks.
- **Self-Management**: A self-starter attitude with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively.
- **Pragmatism**: Skill interpreting complex and technical details with a pragmatic approach, while adhering to legally binding regulations and understanding what 'good practice' looks like.

**Desirable**
- **Consultation and Engagement**: Experience in creating high-quality, transparent, and principled consultation and engagement materials and processes, delivered on time and according to plan.
- **Industry Knowledge**: Background in regulatory or policy-making roles related to New Zealand's electricity industry and/or network pricing.
