The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. NEMA's primary focus is on the performance and capability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
This role sits in the Business and Performance Unit/Te Te Wāhanga Whakahaere Umanga whose purpose is to lead work on the agency's strategic direction, accountability requirements, organisation planning and performance, and providing general business support across the organisation.
As part of the Strategic Enablement Group, you will ensure our dynamic and fast-moving organisation is heading in the right directions, has a clear sense of purpose and builds transparency around how we add value.
**The purpose of the Team Leader Strategy and Performance is to**:
- Provide effective leadership and management of the Strategy and Performance team.
- Support NEMA ELT/SLT to determine the strategic priorities and develop annual business plans to ensure the agreed priorities are achieved, including programmes, projects and budgets.
- Work collaboratively with the NEMA's ELT/SLT and people leaders to drive NEMA's strategic agenda including the provision of best practice advice and reporting.
As part of working within NEMA, there may be a requirement to respond to emergency activations in the event of a national emergency response. This may involve responding to events outside of normal working hours if an emergency response of national significance occurs.
Ko wai koe | About you
- Proven experience across strategy, planning, finance, projects and performance reporting from similar roles, including strategic business partnering and process improvement.
- Excellent understanding of annual Strategic and Business planning cycles, and best practice reporting of performance against plans.
- Experience of designing process improvements to address productivity and efficiency issues, and a track record of change management.
- Experience in people management and leading successful teams.

The salary band for this position is $133,966 to $157,608 including Kiwisaver employer contributions.
