**Senior Advisor, Strategy and Performance - Permanent, full-time**

The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake aims to improve trust and confidence in public services by giving New Zealanders an independent view of government spending and performance. As the statutory auditor of all public organisations, from councils to schools, the Auditor-General's work plays a major part in ensuring that our public sector remains one of the most trusted in the world.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Advisor to join our Strategy and Performance team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction of the Office and make a meaningful difference in the public sector. If you have a strong understanding of strategic planning, performance reporting, and accountability, we want to hear from you.

In this role you'll be focused on planning and reporting (including holding the pen on our annual report). We're refreshing our performance framework this year, so experience in developing strategic frameworks and performance indicators would be a big advantage, as well as leading Estimates processes. Alongside this, you'll support initiatives to improve monitoring and insights, strengthen governance, and develop our annual plan.

You'll bring exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills, alongside the confidence to communicate clearly and effectively, whether in writing or presenting to senior leaders and stakeholders. We're looking for someone with a pragmatic, forward-thinking attitude who thrives in a collaborative environment.

To succeed this role, you'll have:

- at least three to four years' experience working in a similar role in a public organisation;
- experience producing performance reporting and distilling insights for senior leaders;
- the ability to develop and implement business planning approaches across an organisation;
- a sound understanding of the system of government and public management in New Zealand;
- an understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi and te ao Maori; and
- excellent analysis and project management skills.
