At the Pharmacy Department, we provide expert advice and assistance to ensure the safe and cost-effective prescribing and administration of all medications within Auckland District Health Board.

In this position, you will primarily focus on organising the supply of stock and non-stock items to the ward, alongside current responsibilities such as imprest supply, maintenance and expiry checks. The role will be patient focused, supporting the medication pathway and will include activities such as:

- Reviewing patient charts to identify stock and non-stock items
- Scanning and ordering non-stock items previously screened by the pharmacist
- Liaison with nursing staff to identify and organize leave medicines required
- Organise medications in blister packs if required for patients who are self-medicating
- Contacting the ward pharmacists to review any items that haven’t been screened
- Communicating with nursing staff regarding medications on order and their delivery
- Facilitating a timely supply of urgent items.
- Organising the return of dispensed items no longer required

It is envisaged that the role will extend further into activities such as management of controlled drugs, medication history taking, review of patients own drugs and discharge counselling.

We are looking for a technician that has the NZQA NZ Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician) Level 5 (or equivalent). You will be patient focused, confident and have good interpersonal and communication skills. You will also be flexible and willing to be responsible for your actions.

Ideally you will have proven technical proficiency and previous hospital or community experience.

This position is Monday to Friday with additional after hours or weekend work included.
