Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This full time senior pharmacy technician position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, technically proficient, aseptically validated pharmacy technician the opportunity to work in our busy dispensary and compounding department at Auckland City Hospital.
The senior technician will work with the Dispensary Manager to lead, co-ordinate and provide technical support to ensure the delivery of an efficient, safe, accurate and cost effective dispensing and compounding service to our patients. Responsibilities will include training staff in the dispensary, safe, aseptic and extemporaneous compounding and maintaining the compounding and dispensing facilities and documentation according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Duties will also include dispensing (including controlled drugs and clinical trials), producing weekly technician rosters, appraising rotational technicians' performance and supporting quality initiatives and developments in the dispensary.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
The successful applicant will posses an NZQA National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician) Level 5 or equivalent, be currently validated in aseptic compounding, have 2 years recent aseptic experience and an applied knowledge of the NZ Code of Good Manufacturing Practice. They will possess effective interpersonal and people management skills, be customer focused and able to demonstrate efficient organisational, planning and communication skills. Basic computer skills, experience supervising and mentoring staff and the ability to lead teams and work productively with other senior managers is essential. Experience in managing and training staff in aseptic technique and coordinating work in a busy hospital pharmacy is preferred but full training and support will be provided.
