**Tēnei tūranga - About the Roles**:
We are looking for top notch communications professionals who have experience as people leaders to head-up two teams in MBIE's Engagement, Communications and Ministerial Services Branch. These teams work at the cutting edge of some of Aotearoa’s critical response work.

One team leader (six months fixed term) will lead the comms team supporting our Temporary Accommodation Service. The service is activated for seven regions across the North Island to support people needing short to medium term accommodation while their cyclone-damaged homes are being repaired.

The second role (until October 31) heads a team of three senior communications advisors that is being piloted until the end of October. This team is deployed to communications campaigns and projects across MBIE, as needs surface.
The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of each team, ensuring fit for purpose processes and operational approaches, and working with communications managers in MBIE.

As well as being the people leader for the direct reports, the team leader will be expected to also help deliver top-notch principal-level communications support and strategic engagement and communications advice.
We are looking for fleet-footed, unflappable and highly experienced communications experts, who enjoy a variety of work and who can operate at a very senior level in ambiguous and fast-moving situations.
To be successful in the role you will have significant media and crisis communications experience, and extensive experience in working with senior communications leaders in Ministers’ Offices and other government agencies, contributing to the All of Government communications approach. You must be able to develop and lead a team that can pivot to any aspect of communications work at pace, from writing communications plans to web content, to proactive communications and media management.

As team leader, you will have well-honed organisation, delegation and coordination skills and a good understanding of how to meet fluctuating demands for communication resourcing.

- A proven track record leading, motivating and managing a team of engaged professionals and creating a team environment where people can grow and develop.
- Extensive experience in communications strategy and policy development, and in the design and delivery of written media, external and internal communication material.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focused on continuous improvement to enhance organisational performance.
- Demonstrated experience in controlling, monitoring and evaluating the content of communication products to ensure quality, consistency and accessibility of messages.
- Proven experience in providing clear and trusted advice to Ministers, officials and senior managers.
- Proven ability to use, and provide advice on, a mix of engagement, digital and marketing systems and tools to provide effective engagement solutions.
- Confidence and able to work calmly at a very senior level in ambiguous and fast-moving situations.
