This role falls within our Customer Solutions Group - Customer Solutions provides fast and flexible matching of expertise and knowledge to our export customers, enabled by digital. We aim to provide access the right people and knowledge to enable customers to grow faster, better and stronger.

Sustainability is a strategic priority for NZTE, both for ourselves as an organisation and supporting exporters to integrate sustainability into the way they do business.

**What you’ll be doing**

You will lead NZTE’s strategy to inform and upskill exporters about sustainability requirements & opportunities globally. This will be underpinned by developing a solid understanding of our customers' specific sectors and opportunities for greater integration or embedding of sustainability into their strategy. You’ll also lead NZTE’s internal sustainability commitments, and partner with Finance/ Operations on measurement and reporting.

**What you’ll need to be successful**

You will be confident leading and supporting others to work with our customers to identify the best ways to solve their sustainability concerns, integrate or enhance what they have. Your proven experience in sustainability with established networks and connections will enable you to determine what content, tools or services NZTE should be creating for customers and where NZTE should curate or have partnerships with other organisations. You will have understanding of/ experience in managing carbon reduction commitments.

Ideally you will also have the following skills:

- Be able to develop the key measurables that NZTE will use to ensure that we are helping our customers in the best possible way.
- Have significant international exposure - previous experience and demonstrated ability to operate successfully in different cultures, and a strong understanding of exporting and operating businesses on a global scale.
- Have excellent communication ability with strong relationship and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential to communicate in a professional manner with clients, international posts and team members.
- Be flexible - have the ability to be proactive and reactive, manage multiple priorities and eliminate roadblocks without being knocked off balance by the unexpected. Cope with change effectively, with the ability to decide and act without having the total picture. Be self-directed and motivated, counted on to get the job done among tight and competing deadlines.
