**The Organisation**
The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 employees, there are a diverse range of roles from community-facing to support and technical specialists.
**About the role**:
As the Stormwater Team Leader, you are responsible for the long term planning, resource consenting, investigations, asset development and maintenance and renewal strategies of the Timaru District Council’s stormwater systems and provision of support services to the Drainage and Water Unit.
Working as the first line leader of a growing team, you will provide inspirational and well-informed technical leadership, communicating key goals and organisational objectives and fostering a supportive and service orientated culture.
You will relish the technical opportunity to focus on stormwater management planning and developing key strategies and direction in accordance with sustainable asset management principles and plans. Working in consultation and managing the coordination of key projects through to completion.

**About you**:
In order to be successful in the role of Stormwater Team Leader you will have:
- A demonstrated career of over 7 years working in a similar role/leadership within the infrastructure/water industry
- A relevant tertiary qualification/degree (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering (Level 8)
- Specialist knowledge within stormwater management, consents, design guidelines and code of practise and general engineering and asset management principals associated with stormwater activities.
- Demonstrated ability in project management and the development and implementation of work programmes for renewing and developing assets.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor, develop and fully utilise technical skill and knowledge of team members to achieve individual, unit and organisational goals.
- Excellent communication skills, collaborative and engaging manner with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and individuals both internal and external.
