Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The Product Owner is a key role for the overall stewardship of a key pest register database system to ensure development, focus, support, and improvements will be agreed, understood, and delivered in line with the overall strategic direction. This will directly impact how importers and exporters comprehend and view biosecurity regulatory information.
The Product Owner is responsible for the design and definition of the required products. This is a key role that requires the ability to provide a vision that can be delivered which aligns with many disparate stakeholders across multiple workstreams.
**Some key areas of responsibility include**:
- Define the product vision and strategy, develop the product roadmap, and drive product delivery to support the business need.
- Relationship management with key stakeholders (internal and external)
- Collaborate and provide direction to the development team

You will be an experienced product owner who understands the opportunities and challenges of a maintaining a product. You will know how to blend continuous product improvement with delivering major new functionality. Ideally you will be flexible, have business architecture experience and will have worked with science data.

This role sits within Animal and Plant Health Directorate which is within Biosecurity New Zealand. The role will report to the Systems Manager. The Systems Team comprises of staff that support the Directorate to work, develop and improve efficiencies and embed effective and sustainable change improvements. Biosecurity NZ has systems that support delivery of regulatory biosecurity information to both internal and external stakeholders.
