Tamaki, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

'Kotahi anō te kaupapa, ko te oranga o te iwi' - ‘There is only one purpose to our work: the wellness and wellbeing of our people'.
A new initiative at Auckland Women's Corrections Facility (ARWCF) is underway, of which the end goal is the development of a therapeutic treatment unit at ARWCF, delivering newly revised rehabilitation programmes that have been designed within a braided river (He Awa Whiria) approach - that is Te Ao Maori and Matauranga Maori sit alongside more Western psychological approaches to rehabilitation.
The vision for the Unit and it's operating model has been designed alongside the women in our care, their whanau, and iwi representatives. There is a strong focus on Matauranga Maori. As such, the Manager Psychology Services (MPS) will be supported by a specialist Kaupapa Maori Practitioner (Tumu Maurea). The team will also include a reintegration co-ordinator, psychologists and programme facilitators who will work closely with custody staff and other providers to provide a holistic therapeutic experience.
The focus of this unit will be on supporting our most vulnerable and highest need women through the newly revised programme, while offering extended wrap-around support with links to whanau and iwi in the community.
Due to Covid related delays impacting on access to ARWCF, it is likely to be some time before the physical unit at ARWCF is fit for purpose. In the interim, the focus of the Manager Psychological Services role will be on leading the team to implement the revised programme and wrap around supports outside of a specific physical unit, as well as providing psychological support to other areas on site, i.e. Maximum Security and the remand space.
