**Are you passionate about climate adaptation? Is understanding risk your thing? Do you want to help Christchurch City Council, rūnanga and communities adapt to future challenges?**

Our Council's Coastal Hazards Adaptation Planning programme is looking for a Senior Adaptation Advisor to research and develop a Climate Adaptation Toolkit for communities that will be impacted by climate risks on six month, part time fixed term contract. We are looking for people with the skills and experience necessary to design and deliver adaptation planning processes that align with relevant policies and support the needs of communities. You will have a strong ability to understand and communicate risk, a demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders, a background in research and environmental sciences, and you will relish working collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.

You will have experience and/or knowledge of the technical and policy processes necessary to develop adaptation pathways and an understanding of the importance of considering impacts across the wellbeings (environmental, social, cultural). You will be comfortable commissioning and providing oversight of relevant technical work and providing advice and guidance on climate hazards to inform planning and policy development across Council. In this emerging field you must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to identify solutions to challenges. Most of all you will have a focus on delivering adaptation advice that prepares us for the effects of climate hazards on our communities, infrastructure and environment.
