**About Airways International Ltd**:
Airways International Ltd (AIL) is the commercial arm of Airways New Zealand - providing air traffic services training, simulation & selection solutions, aeronautical information management, flight procedures and aviation consultancy services to the global aviation industry. As pioneers and market leaders, we partner with some of the best in the industry to develop and deliver world-leading products and services.
**About Aeropath**:
Aeropath is a business unit within AIL and offers a unique and wide range of services in aeronautical information management (AIM) and the design of instrument flight procedures (IFP). Aeropath operates domestically and internationally, and our customers include airports, airlines, pilots, ANSPs and civil aviation authorities.
The data found in airliners and control towers around the world is only possible thanks to the work of AIM teams globally. Their efforts ensure the accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of aeronautical information that underpins aviation safety.
Reflecting the complex and ever evolving digital nature of aeronautical information, we are about to embark on a large, multi-year modernisation programme. This includes digitisation of data and business workflows and will require significant software development.
**About the Team**:
The AIM team collates data from a wide range of sources, including Airways, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), MetService, airports, and other stakeholders. The Aeronautical data collected, transformed and managed by the AIM team is used to produce aeronautical publications, charts and is presented in a variety of products. Additionally, the data is utilised by global Flight Management System (FMS) providers Electronic Flight Bag providers. The AIM team uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support data integration and visualisation.
The team maintains aeronautical databases, which feed critical Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems and support the operation of the NOTAM office. In addition, the team develops and maintains aviation briefing websites PreFlight and Flight Advisor, that graphically integrates aeronautical, met, NOTAM and RPAS (drone) data to provide aviation participants with the tactically relevant information they require before they fly.
**About the AIM Team Structure**:
To deliver the modernisation programme and increase the capability within the AIM team, we are embarking on a recruitment drive. With this in mind, we have created three team leader roles, each leading a new sub-team of AIM Specialists within Data/Geospatial, Digital/Software and Publication specialist areas. These newly roles will report to the Manager AIM.
A core aspect of these roles is focused on building on the data integration and visualisation capabilities of the Aeropath data platform and data-centric AIM processes that drive the provision of the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) in New Zealand and across the South Pacific. This is critical to support our vision as we continue to develop and implement new commercial products and services built on the provision of geospatial and aeronautical data.
It is important to emphasise that, to deliver business outcomes and modernisation programme, and as there is a significant overlap between functional areas, multiple or cross-functional skillset and collaborative mindset is highly desirable.
