**About the role**

Our client is looking to expand their legal team and employ a confident Legal Counsel to help the Head of Legal with the day-to-day running of the New Zealand team.

You will receive high quality and interesting work with variety from the outset, providing legal advice and working directly with internal business units and management in respect of commercial contracts, litigation matters (with the support of top tier outside counsel), legal research, compliance, and corporate governance matters. You may have the potential to travel to Australia. Given the guidance and resources to succeed, there is also the option to don the extra hat of Corporate and Environmental Officer and be fast-tracked to mentor a team of two law clerks who will assist.

**The Ideal You**
- A NZ qualified solicitor, with ideally 2-3 years' experience (more or less) from either in-house/private practice.
- Some prior experience in litigation or commercial/property law is preferred.
- Prior experience in environmental law is beneficial.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good decision-making skills.
- Eager to learn and advance in your career.

- in a boutique specialised resource management or litigation practice; or
- maybe you have returned from overseas and are looking to secure your next legal counsel role with a unique environmental element?
