At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Senior Adviser will support the change and implementation of curricula. We deliver the education changes from early learning through to senior secondary for both physical and digital materials and resources.
Our design, pedagogical and implementation of materials, resources and activities must help kaiako, teachers, leaders and centre managers to provide teaching and learning programmes that reduce inequity and lift achievement and wellbeing.
They work closely with the Senior Manager to support the translation of high level policy and strategic intent into the change management planning, design of services, and implementation approaches. They will also work closely with other teams involved in the NZ Curriculum refresh work programme.
The salary band for this role is $77,966 - $95,292 depending on skills and experience.

We are looking for someone who is resourceful, able to work at pace and manage set tasks and projects, but you will also notice pressure points, take the initiative, and act. Your personal qualities will include able use of research and investigative skills, taking pride in producing written work and other forms of communication of the highest quality every time, and have a proven ability to manage activities to get the job done on time. In this role you will be expected to have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people.
To be successful in the role, you will need to have proven knowledge and ability to:

- Interpret ambiguity, manage planning and activity cycles and requirements within government.
- Convey abstract and/or complex ideas in clear, practical and concrete terms, tailored for the audience.
- Demonstrate well developed problem solving and analytical skills, with an ability to work co-operatively with others to solve problems or complete tasks.

Understanding of the education system, including The New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and Te Whāriki, is desirable.

The role of the Curriculum, Pathways & Progress group is to set the direction for what students learn, how they progress and how school leaders and teachers can achieve that for every child and student across school years 1 to 13. The group uses evidence and educational trends to design targeted solutions, resources, tools and services that lift educational achievement for all. The group co-designs and co‑develops innovative approaches to achieve policy intentions, plans successful implementation strategies and monitors to ensure a return on investment.
