**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Equity business unit was established to undertake robust research on interventions and translate findings through to implementation to support addressing the Life Expectancy gap between Māori and non-Māori, between Pacific and non-Pacific, and other key prioritised interventions. The team also support the development of equity frameworks, tools and capability for Health NZ.
In this role, your primary purpose will be to provide expert analysis and technical advice to support the work of the wider Equity team, which is made up of three aspects - Māori Health Pipeline, Equity, Scientific and Technical and Equity Development.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for analysing and interpreting data to ensure research programmes are evidence-based and focused on research objectives and equitable health outcomes. You will work with the project teams to produce robust technical reports and/or publish-ready papers in support of the broader Health Equity work programme. You will also work to develop data and information visualisation techniques, advise and support staff in the use of systems and tools, and assist project teams with the tracking of KPIs.

**Mōu | About you**
You will be an experienced, knowledgable and problem-solver, with experience working as an analyst within health, and ideally in a large organisation.
You will be a someone who has a strong commitment to equity, with a passion and ability to use Data Analytics to support the advancement of Māori health. You will easily be able to identify and escalate risks, and can manage and prioritise multiple tasks while working independently.
You will be required to work with a range of teams and leaders across the organisation, at national, regional and local levels in this role so you will need to be an excellent communicator with a strong stakeholder focus, who is able to build strong relationships across the organisation and understand the different needs required in each context.

- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information technology, healthcare informatics, business, statistics or related field
- At least 5 years working as an analyst in the health sector, with experience in data analysis, reporting and research
- Knowledge of clinical systems and health data sets
- Experience in management of patient information
- Experience in developing dashboards, measures, and indicators and other standard tools for gathering and reporting on data and information in a healthcare setting
- Advanced ability in MS Office programmes and use of analytical software
